Tom R. Holmlund, Vice President of Barraco and Associates, Inc., has been appointed to the Lee County Metropolitan Planning Organization Citizen Advisory Committee. Holmlund will represent the City of Cape Coral.

The MPO CAC consists of 24 appointed citizens who make recommendations to the MPO from the public’s perspective on proposed long-range transportation plans, project plans, priorities for state and federal funding and other transportation issues.

The Lee County MPO’s mission is to provide leadership in planning and promoting a comprehensive intermodal surface transportation system that will provide for regional mobility, encourage a positive investment climate and foster sustainable development sensitive to community and natural resources. The Lee County MPO’s vision is to have a multi-jurisdictional, integrated multi-modal transportation system that safely and efficiently moves people and goods to, through, and within our area, and which enables Lee County and the surrounding areas to flourish in the global marketplace. The Lee County MPO strives to include and promotes public participation in every aspect of its’ planning processes.

The Lee County MPO Board is comprised of elected and appointed officials from Bonita Springs, Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel, Unincorporated Lee County and FDOT. The Board meets monthly to provide direction in planning future transportation projects and improvements.

Prior to making decisions, the MPO receives recommendations from the Citizens’ Advisory Committee (CAC), the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), the Transportation Disadvantaged Local Coordinating Board (LCB), the Bicycle Pedestrian Coordinating Committee (BPCC), and the Traffic Management and Operations Committee (TMOC).
